Christmas Organizing: Organizing Gift Ideas!

I know that I love to shop and figure out great gifts to get everyone for Christmas, but then I also get asked by my Mom or MIL what I would like for Christmas! Do you get asked? Well, if you don't, you can drop hints...hee, hee!

Today I am going to show you some FABULOUS organizing gifts for yourself or for someone else! Cause we could all use a little more organizing in our lives!!

In our house, the first gifts to open are the stocking stuffers. So, I'll start with those!

These include: {1} a plug-in charging shelf, {2} Password directory, {3} GRID-IT organizer, {4} Door organizer, {5} Cord wraps, {6} Cord clips, {7} Coupon organizer with calculator, {8} GRID-IT binder organizer, {9} Key clip.

Then, we have organized gifts for him! My hubby would love any of these - he has two of them already!

These include: {1} Tool Hardware Caddy, {2} Rolling stackable mobile tool caddy, and {3} dresser valet.

There are gifts for HER {that would be YOU, too}.

These include: {1} hanging jewelry organizer, {2} Set of homekeeping printables, {3} Purse clip {yes, again}, {4} Craft Organizer/Carrier, {5} Coupon organizer, {6} Vanity Organizer, {7} SUPER size coupon organizer, {8} Sunglasses organizer, {9} Tool Box.

For the traveler in your life {or for YOU}.

These include: {A} Trunk Organizer and cooler, {B} Travel jewelry organizer, {C} Picnic basket organizer, {D} Toiletries organizer, {E} Car seat organizer.

Another category is for the organized kitchen {or cook} in your life!

These include: {A} Casserole carrier, {B} Acrylic stackable spice containers, {C} Lunch set, {D} Pot rack organizer, {E} can rack.

Last, for the book readers! Here are three great books on Organizing that I highly recommend: {1} Organizing Simplicity, {2} Clutter Rehab, and {3} The 15-Minute Organizer.

OK...wow! I scoured the internet looking for great ideas that {mostly} won't break the bank but are great for keeping organized and yet a fun gift to get or give! There are LOTS more ideas that I didn't include that are on my GIFTS board on Pinterest. I also have all the prices included in that Pinterest board. Does this help?

Thankful for friends and family - plus a free printable!!

Do you have some special people in your life that you are just so thankful for? Well, I do!

Today is a special day! It's my Mom's birthday.
Mom and I on my wedding day - July 8, 1994

She is VERY special to me! I can't even begin to tell you how special she is to me and all the things that make me thankful for her! I'm sad I didn't get a picture of just the two of us this Thanksgiving, but we spent lots of time together chatting. We're a lot alike.

Since becoming a Mom 12 1/2 years ago, she and I are even better friends - you just appreciate your mom so much more after you become a Mom! She and I enjoy doing projects together - she's especially great at coming to my house and helping me paint - and HARD working. And boy, she is an amazing seamstress who can make doll clothes, curtains, or anything else you can think of!

I have so many family and friends that I often forget to tell them that I love them and I'm thankful for them. So, you and I are going to get a kick start! I'm going to challenge you to take the time to write a note to someone special - one person or ten, doesn't matter - and tell them why you are thankful for them!

These are a sheet of four, and they can be cut up and then either mailed in an invitation envelope, handed to them, or printed on cardstock paper to mail as a postcard.

Who are you thankful for?

Gallery Wall

Our family room, as I've told you before, is my favorite room in our home!

It has evolved into a wonderful, comfortable space. My piano students and parents spend lots of time in there while waiting for the next lesson that I teach them and even they tell me how much they love being in there!

So, my wall on one side of the family room looked a bit lonely for something personal...

As you can see, it needed a focal point. It needed something to warm up the space! We took some wonderful family portraits this summer so I wanted to BLOW UP our family portrait really large and put it on canvas. I did it online at Costco online and it was really not expensive and it turned out so nice! I just had to download the pictures, make the pictures how I wanted, and then had them shipped to the store and that was free!

I also printed up some collages online of the other great pictures we had taken.

The last thing I wanted for the wall was our last name initial "B". I wanted something large and unique. So, I went to Etsy and found a great shop that will make these in many different font choices AND you could choose the color you wanted. The shop is called Vintage Blue by Sophia and she was great to work with.

I wanted to get my pictures figured out for how I wanted them to look on the wall. I also had a couple of floating shelves I had bought at Target a few months ago that I never got around to using. So, I took a blanket and laid everything out.

Then, my hubby hung up all the pictures using my sample to help him.

He's a keeper, really. Those floating shelves were HARD to hang. Turns out that our paneled walls aren't exactly so perfect - they bow out and that made it pretty tough work with. We hadn't noticed before since we never hung shelves on those walls!

You can see that our ceiling also slopes down - it's a flat roof on that part of the house and is wonky, but you work with what you have! It still looks great, though!

Here it is up close. It makes me smile to see my little family all up there.

And to leave you with a before and after. I love it! More personality, too! Oh, and I already have a project in mind for that old piece that was up there before. Do you have a gallery wall in your home?

Christmas Organizing: Ornaments and such

Are you excited to be organizing for Christmas??? How is that Christmas Gift List working for you? Isn't that just the most fun?

Well, today I'm going to give you some excellent ORGANIZING ideas for your Christmas ornaments and such! I have so much great inspiration.

The boys hanging Christmas lights - and yes, they are in shorts in November!

We generally get all our Christmas boxes out as soon as we get home from our Thanksgiving weekend at my parents' house {just so you know, we have someone who lives in our house the whole time we're gone to house and dog sit}. Literally, when we pull in the driveway, I turn around and my hubby and son are on the roof putting up lights on the house!

The Christmas boxes are all over the house, but I don't actually tackle much more than hanging the wreath on the front door that first day after Thanksgiving.

I give the kids a lot more freedom to help decorate - and they remember where I've put things from year to year. So, it's really great to give them as much as they are able to do to help out. I think my daughter has been helping place Christmas stuff around the house since she was 3 or 4. I gave her lots of non-breakable things and told her an area to put it in and then let her decorate how she wanted to.

But, I wanted to also give you some ideas that I've found to organize the ornaments and such to keep you from going mad when trying to put it all back. Here is an idea I gave you last year for organizing - using old apple containers.

And, there's the see-through!

But, if you want to be cheap, I have some for you too! I know how everyone is always looking for great ways to re-use things and Christmas organizing is a great way.

Of course, there are those plastic bins we all like to use, too! I use Christmas tins, shoe boxes, and original packaging {as much as possible} to hold the ornaments and Christmas decor.

I also wanted to find a few ways you could organize your Christmas cards when they come in the mail. Here are some really creative ways.

And, you can look back over all the Christmas things I posted about last year if you need some more ideas.....AND, of course, I have a Pinterest Board called "Christmas Organizing" that you can look at! So, have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, and start thinking about organizing all your Christmas stuff! I'll be back next week for more...don't worry!!
